Turkey 'benefits from lack of overdevelopment'

Turkey and its popular destinations such as Bodrum and Antalya have benefited from a lack of overdevelopment, an industry spokesperson has claimed.

Ewan McGarrie, chief executive of PropertyInvestment.co.uk, compared Turkey to Spain, which has undergone massive development.

Tourism is a fundamental factor in investment markets and Spain's popularity as a travel destination has led to significant land development.

Despite Turkey's similar popularity as a travel hotspot, it has remained untouched in areas, Mr McGarrie claimed.

The investment expert also spoke of the natural attributes of Turkey, including its beaches and climate.

"Turkey has not suffered to the extent that Spain has with…overdevelopment. It has a great climate and great beaches," Mr McGarrie said.

"It is a slightly different lifestyle in that it is obviously a different culture. Turkey is such a vast country. It is where Asia meets Europe and it has the influences of both, which a lot of people find appealing."
